Charlie Aubry

Visual artist / Musician / DIY engineer

French, English
Specialty: Digital and sound installation, performance and DIY

Charlie Aubry, visual artist and composer, explores the intersections between art and technology through interactive and musical installations. An omnivorous collector, he transforms machines destined for programmed obsolescence into critical works of art. His research focuses on the creative hacking of circuits and device mechanisms, diverting their initial use to question our relationship with technology and consumption.

Charlie has presented works such as "Cosi vanno le cose" at Villa Medici, in which everyday objects become historical and critical witnesses of our times. He regularly collaborates with choreographer Maguy Marin, creating sound environments and music for performances, demonstrating his ability to fuse the visual and performative arts.

Recent projects include "P3.450", an installation that uses artificial intelligence to explore societal themes through facial and object recognition. His works disrupt the false certainty of the digital age that "what you see is what you get", and his installations are comparable to Jason Rhoades-style accumulations, where each element is connected in surprising ways.Charlie Aubry joined isdaT (Institut supérieur des arts de Toulouse) where he obtained his DNAP in 2012 and then his DNSEP in 2014, both with the congratulations of the jury.
