Émilie d'Ornano is an independent curator, art critic, teacher and director of KOMMET. With a Research Master's degree in Art History (Université Lumière Lyon2) and a Professional Master's dedicated to curatorial practices (Université Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), she founded the KOMMET art center in Lyon in March 2019. Since 2019, she has been teaching art history, communication strategy and curating at ICART, Ecole Brassart, Ecole Bellecour and the University of Saint-Etienne. Since 2023, she has led a program to support graduates of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in their professional development.
Since 2016, she has been developing a critical and curatorial approach that aims to be participatory and committed to artists and their practices. She pays particular attention to artists who reflect on recent developments and upheavals in contemporary society. In 2022, she was invited by HEAR (Strasbourg art school) and the Accélérateur de particulesassociation to curate a double group show at La Chaufferie and Garage COOP, as part of the international event Regionale. In summer 2024, she completed a residency with artist Axel Amiaud, at the invitation of the Föhn curatorial platform and the Châtellerault art center. The same year, she won a call for entries launched by the Seize Mille contemporary art network. In parallel with her programming at KOMMET, she is currently working on an exhibition scheduled for summer 2025 at Le Basculeur (Isère) and on a group show in rural areas, organized at the invitation of theassociation "allons voir! (Pays-Fort, Centre-Val de Loire region).
