Laurène Maréchal is an independent curator and founder-director of Artocène, a contemporary art biennial in Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc.
In recent years, her curatorial research has focused on questions of landscape transformation and the relationship with the living in contemporary artistic practice. By inviting artists for residencies in the mountains, she seeks to blend their practice with fragments of history, geology, environmental science, mountaineering and philosophy.
Laurène Maréchal is also vice-president of the Altitudes contemporary art network, and hosts the podcast/radio program "Au fil de l'art" on cultural news in the Alps. She holds a degree in art history from Warwick University, and has collaborated with the Cranford Collection (London), The Arts Club (London), ICA (London), Galerie Chantal Crousel (Paris), Fondation Royaumont (Greater Paris), Art for the World (Geneva), CAUE Haute Savoie (Annecy), Villa du Parc (Annemasse), Musée Alpin (Chamonix). Laurène Maréchal is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Wilfrid Moser Foundation.
