WINNER CARRÉ SUR SEINE 2019

Between figuration and concept, representation and allusion, classicism and transgression, Alice Grenier-Nebout creates an imaginary universe full of symbolism and illusion. Her paintings oscillate between the romantic pictorial convention and that of abstract colour flat tints. On the canvas, the planes of painting are superimposed and tuned. In the subject matter, memory, dream and desire are sought after.

While the figures appeared light and transparent, the sharp and marked lines respond to a polyphony of blazing blues, blacks, or reds and to atmospheres of vegetal embroidery. In the series Orgy of Species, bringing together aesthetic structures of natural and human environments and reconstructing real subjects according to her eye, Alice Grenier-Nebout presents a vision of nature that fuses human and animal life in an abstract reflection.

His works are teeming with details and chords that abolish time and space and allow multiple references to exist simultaneously. Captured by the infinite aesthetic possibilities of the materiality of the body, the surface of Alice Grenier-Nebout's paintings is sensual and tactile. Painted bodies emanate a vital force. In her canvases, painting, combined with the accumulation of greasy pastel, offers us exuberant velvet atmospheres.

Between Madonnas and Venus, it is the woman and her erotic and welcoming embrace that the artist celebrates in a suggestive and immediate dance. And finally, in this dance, we find the allegory of human life, made of a continuous movement, always turned towards union with the other.

LA CASA
- exhibition-event of the winners of the Prize Carré sur Seine, from February 3 to 24, 2023 -

The painter slips into her trunk the sentimental illusions which constitute, she says, "the romantic of a woman in love". In the hurried mess of a disrobing to pleasure (stockings, shoes), the love letters of Racine and Alfred de Musset cross the threshold of courtesy for that of the intimate and erotic room: sheets, cushion and big painting according to the divine Comedy of Dante!

Alice Grenier Nebout explores her sensations with an almost naive naturalness. The colors are only true to the wild and exotic species that blend into the lush hues. And the landscapes, not so imaginary as that, but certainly distant and in danger. She confides "to lead the viewer into a hypnotic, sensual and colorful vision of a paradise not quite lost. A way of escaping reality and capturing on the fly something natural or supernatural that has disappeared from our existences."
