LAUREATE CARRÉ SUR SEINE 2022

The Carré sur Seine 2022 Prize was awarded to Luca Resta " for his ability to address issues such as provenance, descent and the memory of the everyday in a contemporary perspective that combines lyricism and irony. "

The artist explores the social and cultural space to sublimate the ordinary by turning the usual into authentic and by transforming the things of the "almost invisible" into objects of desire. In front of his work, the spectator experiences the aesthetic power of sculptural techniques.
Luca Resta graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bergamo. Among his exhibitions: À la pêche à la ligne, l'magticot aussi est innocent, Galerie 22,48 m², Paris, 2022, DO DISTURB #4, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2018, STATE OF THE ARTS, 54° Biennale di Venezia, Padiglione Accademia, 2011.
LA CASA
- exhibition-event of the winners of the Prize Carré sur Seine, from February 3 to 24, 2023 -

Her suitcase is placed on the photograph of the airport carpet where the journey begins. The baggage check exposes the everyday things one takes with him to "feel at home" away from home. Slipping the plastic bottles and the Italian author's novel (his mother tongue) into his belongings, whose pages he has transformed into a narrative, he makes the blurred exchange of the globalized world audible. With humor, he depicts the surfeit of these ephemeral objects that follow us like our shadow.

The weight of industry and its waste is compared to the marble blocks that Luca Resta sculpts in a hyper-realistic way to reproduce the recurrence of products (Doner Kebab, Mozzarella di Seriate, Soy Sauce) that form the iconography of our food habits. The plastic packages of ham are transformed by their enlargement (Carnival #1, #2) in front of an almost supernatural aesthetic. The asphyxiation and the "visual overload" threaten us, yet in everyday life, could we do without these common forms?
