In an urban setting and context that leaves little room for silence, the exhibition questions our ability to listen, perceive and feel the world. The 17 artists, resistant and visionary, show us what they mean by "nature" and "elements". This rediscovery of our environment involves questioning the Western anthropocentric vision which is for many in the ambivalent nature of our relationship to nature: dependence, domination, destruction.
Man has for centuries placed himself outside nature and thus gauged it from his external point of view. However, this is not the case everywhere and in other cultures the very concept of "nature" is meaningless in that the world is a whole in which man is embedded.
L'écho du silence explores these questions by letting the artists speak.
