TheAssociation Carré sur Seine is pleased to invite you to a conference on the evolution of the habits and customs of love through the centuries and through painting. From Botticelli to Oskar Kokoschka, this conference echoes the exhibition "Un fauve à Vienne" at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Marie-Isabelle Taddeï will sign her latest book at the end of the conference.

Fin'amor, "perfect love" or courtly love is a literary and poetic concept that appeared in the 12th century. For the first time, women are not part of the booty, they must not be taken, they must be given to them. And it is thanks to the troubadours, the minstrels, and through a whole decorative iconography that it will spread. During the Renaissance, marital love was celebrated through the "Cassoni", wedding chests, but also impossible or platonic love, as Botticelli did through his Venus borrowing the features of the "Unparalleled", the sublime Simonetta Vespucci. In the Age of Enlightenment it is the turn of libertinage and "Fêtes Galantes" to be honored, especially by the master of the genre, Fragonard. Modern Art saw the apogee of the Muses and the Mad Love they triggered in certain artists, Kokoschka in the lead with his Fiancée du vent, the ultimate declaration of passionate love to Alma Mahler...

Who is Marie-Isabelle Taddei?

Marie-Isabelle Taddeï was born in 1964. After a sabbatical year in London, she began studying law as a dilettante at Paris V. At the same time, she worked for the magazine Maintenant. She then multiplied her professional activities over a period of 4 years, running an art gallery, a restaurant, and a hotel.... She is co-author of the program D'Art D'Art broadcast on France 2 from 2002 to 2018. In 2013, with the photographer Camille de Ginestel, she published a series of interviews entitled D'Art et de Couture in the magazine Flair. In 2014, she inaugurates a series of lectures on retrospectives of contemporary art presented in major European museums. In 2015, she collaborated on the issue of Cahiers Européens de l'Imaginaire devoted to the Baroque, published by CNRS. In 2018, she resumed her activity as curator of exhibitions in partnership with Parisian and Catalan art galleries. Since December 2018, she is the programming director of Au Coeur de l'Expo, produced by Europe 1, exhibition visits hosted by Frédéric Taddeï live at the cinema in CGR theaters. And since 2008, she has published the 4 volumes of the Collection D'Art D'Art, as well as 2 versions for children, all co-written with her brother Frédéric Taddeï.

In 2021, with the Édition du Chêne, Marie-Isabelle Taddeī published The gallery of the famous unknowns, a fascinating tribute to the genius of 100 artists and their masterpieces.
