Finalists for the Carré sur Seine 2023 Prize

Following Rencontres Artistiques organized and hosted by Carré sur Seine, thirteen artists have been selected to present their explorations at the Musée des Années 30. The exhibition promises to be an "up-to-date showcase" of the contemporary art scene.

Finalists: Ismail Alaoui Fdili, Javier Carro Temboury, Bryce Delplanque, Dorian Etienne, Ninon Hivert, Keanu Lebon, Laurent Mareschal, Albane Monnier, Araks Sahakyan, Céline Shen, Marie Sommer, Nils Vandevenne, and Marianne Vieulès.

Ami Barak comments: "It's not a question of cosmeticizing the zeitgeist, but of highlighting ways of doing things, subjects of concern, each and every one in the manner of a gardener concerned with encouraging natural life, fostering artistic biodiversity, varying the 'habitats' and regularly modifying the 'compost' of the work so that it presents itself in the most 'sustainable' way possible.
The exhibition acts as a transmission belt between artists and the public, energizing the art scene while offering creators an unprecedented platform for visibility."

Carré sur Seine and Carré sur Seine│Fonds de Dotation Interconstruction

Launched in 2013 to shine a spotlight on the contemporary art scene, each year the Carré sur Seine Prize distinguishes one or more winners from among the finalist artists working in the visual arts: installation, video, painting, photography, sculpture, performance...It extends the spirit of the Rencontres Artistiques and embodiesassociation 's commitment to promoting and celebrating emerging artistic talent. It provides a platform for exploring, encouraging and rewarding contemporary creative expression.

For the first time, in 2024, the Interconstruction Endowment Fund, already a partner of Carré sur Seine, will be associated with the prize, offering an endowment of 5,000 euros. The prize will be awarded to an artist whose expression is linked to sculpture or volume. It adds a new dimension to the artistic recognition of the historic prize.

To close the Un carré de jardin exhibition, the Prix Carré sur Seine and Carré sur Seine│Fonds de Dotation Interconstruction awards will be accompanied by two grants of 5,000 euros each. These will be awarded to the artists chosen by the jury of Prix 2023 professionals and the FDD Interconstruction jury.

These emerging talents will be chosen for their singular and innovative approach to contemporary art.

The Un carré de jardin exhibition is supported by the City of Boulogne-Billancourt.
