description
Echoing the current parisian art, and on the occasion of the exhibition "César" at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m., Carré Sur Seine invites Anne-Sophie Coppin, art historian, for a lecture on "Caesar or the New Realism". Book your seat quickly!
On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the death of the sculptor César Baldaccini known as Caesar, the Georges Pompidou Centre pays tribute to him on a 2000 M2 plateau with more than 130 works on display. This is an opportunity for us to rediscover this amazing artist, all too often reduced to his Thumb and whose path does not associate opposites but of course the complementary elements that will make his work, an experimental work, often even ahead of society. And is it not the primary role of art to question the society in which we live?
The son of Italian immigrants born in Marseille before becoming a Parisian, César is a self-taught artist attached to the practice of art, he has never stopped working by hand in what he called his "projects ". Inspired by Picasso, Giacometti and Germaine Richier, one would almost forget his links with Africa or his taste for bestiaries. Realistic before the hour by the renewal of the plastic language, shapes and materials he uses, he joined the eponymous movement in the 1960s. His cuts, expansions and expansions make him an artist who has marked the history of art. From the cast of a crazy Horse dancer's breast to the compression of the French's favourite 1950s car, the Renault Dauphine, the whole life of a company has passed into his hands.
