description

Echoing the current parisian art, and on the occasion of the exhibition "Gustav Klimt" at the Atelier des Lumières, Wednesday, November 21 at 7 p.m., Carré Sur Seine invites Etienne Aubert, art lecturer, for a lecture on "Gustav Klimt and the Viennese Secession. In Vienna who can! ».

"The iconic Secession Palace in Vienna, on which this motto is inscribed , "Every century its art, art its freedom" is the place of exhibition of this Viennese current founded in 1897 by Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffmann. They will be followed by Koloman Moser, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka.

Breaking with the academicism of the Austro-Hungarian empire, Klimt is sure to shock the Viennese with "the Beethoven Frieze" which he will consider a total work of art combining painting, music and the use of space. It doesn't matter if he is banned from the official authorities. The wealthy Viennese will ask him for portraits of their wives.

With Klimt, the woman is pampered and very desirable. She dominates the world. It is its exclusive theme. : he grabs her naked or lavishly aforerated, moving, sitting, standing, lying down, in all positions and in all the most provocative attitudes. Emilie Flege, a fashion designer, will be his companion at the end of her life.

Painted in 1908, "The Kiss" is part of The Klimt Golden Cycle. It illustrates infinite love and erotic happiness, with its fascinating aura of gold. »

Etienne Aubert

Who is Etienne AUBERT?

"Even though he has studied art history, his emotion, he draws it above all from an early age, when he finds himself frozen, dazzled, intoxicated, and sometimes even weakened, in front of a work of art. Since his young adolescence, he has been constantly frequenting museums and art galleries both in France and abroad, to better understand. The mystery remains; so the look is decisive.

Our spirit feeds on the art that in turn elevates our soul. What he has been doing for years, is to share his unwavering passion for art, to propose his own analysis and to contextualise the works in their historical and civilizational setting.

There is no possible equation between the work and the discourse. No speech exhauses a work of art. This is probably what makes any interpretation infinite and fascinating. With the work of art, there is a mysterious presence because it is silent. »
