Specialty: Photography

Gilles Cargueray is a freelance curator and art project manager, helping photographers and photography-based platforms to develop their projects (digital communication, partnerships, exhibitions, conferences, curation).

He has structured projects for photographers Édouard Elias, Lys Arango, Laura Bonnefous, Leica Camera France, Leica Camera AG, the Fondation des Treilles, the Escourbiac printing works and Grands Ateliers de France...

After graduating from ESSEC with a Master's degree in luxury and creative brand management, he joined Leica Camera France as Brand Marketing Manager, overseeing the brand's digital and promotional activities. He then joined Leica's global headquarters in Wetzlar as Brand Partnership Manager, where he developed strategic projects with partners such as BMW Group Culture and Italian luxury brand Ermenegildo Zegna.

Passionate about publishing, he has participated in several photo book projects with Editions Noeve, Odyssées or as a self-publisher (BKK by Yan Morvan, Darker Than Blue by Mathieu Bitton, la vie des autres by Fabien Voileau, Afghan Style by Robert Spangle...) and has been Editorial Director of Editions Odyssée since September 2023.
Founded in 1992 by Michel Escourbiac, Odyssée is unique in that it offers its authors the dual expertise of publisher and printer. The 2024 catalog includes some twenty new titles (Peintre officiel de la Marine, photographes plasticiens, documentaries, etc.). The publishing house is a partner of the Fondation des Treilles. Its experience at the crossroads of several universes (photojournalism, luxury goods, fashion, etc.) enables it to support photographers in structuring their projects through to completion in the form of exhibitions or editions.

Gilles Cargueray organizes the annual Leica talks during Les Rencontres d'Arles, bringing together some twenty international photographers, and in 2023 he organized several exhibitions (Barreau de Paris, Galerie Durev among others). He takes part in numerous portfolio readings throughout the year (Les Rencontres d'Arles, Visa pour l'image, Xposure Sharjah, Photodays Paris, Carré sur Seine, Fondation des Treilles...).
