Sylvain Couzinet-Jacques (1983) graduated from the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Marseille (2010) and the École nationale supérieure de la photographie d'Arles (2012). His work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Aperture Foundation in New York (2015) and at C/O Berlin (2019). In 2012, he was awarded the Jeune Talent du BAL prize, and between 2015 and 2016 he was resident at the Centre photographique d'Île-de- France and at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. In 2015, he won the Immersion: a Franco-American photographic commission, awarded by the Fondation d'entreprise Hermès, in alliance with the Aperture Foundation.

His first book Eden (1,000 pages of hand scans of a subprime house in a town called Eden in the US) was published by Aperture in 2016. Between 2017 and 2018 he was received as an artist member of the French Academy in Madrid - Casa de Velázquez. In 2019 he was selected for the ex- position Foam Talents awarded by the Fotomuseum Amsterdam and he received the C/O Berlin Talent Award which resulted in a solo exhibition at C/O Berlin and his second book published by Spector Books.

The global issues of immaterial data circulation, private property and collective appropriation are at the basis of a visual and sculptural exploration in his work that borrows renewed forms from each of his projects. Through a reflection halfway between the documentary genre for its resonance with the present and the visual arts, his works, always contextual and participative, tell of the crises of our world and the collective strategies of its re-enchantment.
