Hossein Valamanesh

Multidisciplinary

Puisque tout passe is Hossein Valamanesh's first exhibition in Europe.

For over 40 years, this Australian artist of Iranian origin has explored the themes of love, nature and spirituality through a wide variety of media, forming an intimate and universal body of work of total coherence inspired by both his roots and his adopted land.

A selection of works from the 1980s to the present day offers an insight into his approach, which is influenced by the writings of Djalâl ad-Dîn Rûmî, the 13th century Persian mystic poet who had a profound influence on Sufism. Combining surrealist humour and the sobriety of arte povera, Hossein Valamanesh freely combines multiple references evoking his childhood memories, his experience of exile or the deep spiritual link that Aborigines have with their environment, and brings them together in an awareness of the impermanence of things and beings, since everything passes away.
