description

Faithful to its vocation as an artistic stimulator in western Paris, and driven by the desire to raise public awareness of the visual arts and encourage the emergence of new collectors, CARRÉ SUR SEINE continues in its LISTEN TO SEE cycle.
Once a month, these screenings and encounters with today's talents are real moments of sharing.

LISTEN, rprivileged encounters made of confidences of artists, who report on their work, in turn, telling you about their universe, their journey and their approach. Questions and debates close the presentation.

Clara Juliane Glauert - painter-plastician
Olivia Laigre - plastic surgeon

Clara Juliane Glauert

"The limits of my language signify the limits of my own world": inspired by this phrase by Wittgenstein, my practice questions the relationship between language and the world, between writing and drawing. The series "Vazy Madame" stages sentences heard in the context of my food work: I am a teacher in a difficult college. These sentences form portraits where every line is text, where every word has been pronounced in this rigid frame that puts into abyss the fractures that underlie our society, while referring to traditional portrait painting.

"The artist Clara Juliane Glauert does not first paint a cage but the borders of a picture frame. Then she draws with ink and pencil the features of teenagers, inspired by those she meets every day (...). With benevolence, intelligence and humour, the artist listens and hears the words that surround, in her subtle works, the faces of these fragile and complicated beings, in transition between childhood and adulthood. »

Olivia Laigre

Colour is very dominant in my work, be it in my sculptures, drawings, paintings, installations... My plastic research is based on the notions of exploration of territory, landscape, nature, transformation, abstraction...

Observing the mineral and plant world is an important part of my work. It is something of the order of successive strata, those that could make up a mental landscape of my own.

Plants have become my main source of raw materials, which I transform into colour. Gleaned, harvested, preserved, transformed... with the utopia of making a colour chart of the different places I visit. Another dimension of classification, methodology, organization and meeting has thus been established.
