Mélanie Bouteloup has been directing projects aimed at anchoring art in society for some twenty years, in partnership with numerous national and international organizations. She co-founded (with Cyril Dietrich and Marie Cozette) and directed the Bétonsalon art and research center from 2003 to 2020. In 2012, she was associate curator with artistic director Okwui Enwezor of La Triennale - an event organized on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture by the Centre national des arts plastiques and the Palais de Tokyo. She was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2014, and in 2016 inaugurated the Villa Vassilieff - Pernod Ricard Fellowship. In 2018, she took over artistic direction of the Nous ne sommes pas le nombre que nous croyons être event, proposed by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, in partnership with the "arts & sciences" Chair and the Cité internationale des arts, for which she was secretary to the board of directors from 2012 to 2020. She is associate curator of the Busan Biennial in 2020, and since 2021 has been in charge of exhibitions and co-responsible for the "Artists & Exhibition Professions" program and the La Résidence program at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
